The Day The Sun Rose Twice

We went above ground without gas masks. We took some NoRad tablets(potassium iodide) and hoped for the best. We took the masks with us incase we met up with some sort of stinking cloud or other such biohazard.

Marci asked if the food in a vending machine was safe to eat. When I told her yes she kicked in the glass to eat a Mars bar. One Mars bar. She's the subtle type.

I found a car I think I can start. The battery's dead and there's no gas, so I think it sat at idle until the engine failed and the lights drained the battery. There must not be anything computer-powered in t. It's not the most practical car for my post-apocalyptic needs, but I'll take what I can get. It's an old VW bug. I'll bring the tools tomorrow and try to change the battery, gas it up and get it started. It'll be better for running errands than the Vespa. I need to try and find a pickup I can use that has enough bulk to nudge the stalled cars out of the way.

I got some beans to plant. I also got a bunch of the steak MREs and build a barbeque above ground out of bricks and piled up some coals and grilled 'em up. We sat on one of the concrete walls outside the compound and ate barbeque steaks like nothing had ever happened. It was nice.

I brought the Vespa down and gassed it back up but was very disappointed with how the excursion went, I had hoped to talk to another survivor today, maybe bring them back.

Somebody had painted "2:00PM every day" on the billboard on top of the abandoned Pizza Hut. I don't know what time it is anymore but I want to get out there early tomorrow and wait, hopefully they are waiting every day.
